Financial Benefits:

ETH Pioneer Fellowship 2025 in Switzerland | Selected candidates will have all of their expenses paid for by the ETH Pioneer Fellowship Program. A one-time payment of 150,000 CHF will be given to the chosen applicants to cover their salaries and other project-related expenses. The applicant's educational background and other project-related expenses determine the proper pay scale. Pioneer Fellows will work at ETH (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeitende) as grant-funded scientists.

Regardless of the number of applications or educational background, the fellowship grant is always 150 000 CHF and cannot be matched by other research funds or professorships. Combinations with the majority of other outside funding sources, including prize money or Innosuisse funds, are allowed. The Fellowship award cannot be combined with other employment-contract-related personal grants, including the BRIDGE Proof of Concept grant.

General Costs:

  • Equipment and materials/consumables particular to the project
  • Costs of measurement at establishments such as FIRST, ScopeM, and EPIC
  • Software licenses for specialist software that the Research Group does not currently cover.
  • Pre-clinical trial expenses
  • Activities like writing software, market studies, websites, hiring outside consultants, etc. are all outsourced.

The cost of tuition for the Advanced Studies Certificate:

  • Since enrollment in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Technology Ventures (CAS ELTV) is required, a single candidate may receive a direct grant from CAS ETH to cover the CHF 9,200 tuition price.
  • If a team of two people applies, the second candidate's enrollment is optional. 50% of the tuition will be covered by ieLab if they decide to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • ETH Zurich master's or doctoral degrees are required of candidates.
  • A group of one or two entrepreneurs who wish to market the findings of their postdoctoral research or master's or doctorate theses at ETH.
  • An encouraging business case
  • A project in which the business is not yet participating.
  • The ETH host professor fully supports the team and the idea.
