The University of Sussex, in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), will award five to ten fully-funded PhD scholarships and short-term visiting scholar opportunities to outstanding Chinese students in 2025. Eligibility Criteria:
The following requirements must be met in order to apply for the 2025 CSC–University of Sussex Scholarship:
Criteria for CSC Eligibility:
- To be eligible, one must fulfill the standards established by the China Scholarship Council.
- Enroll in classes at Sussex in January 2026 or September 2025.
- One must be a citizen of the People's Republic of China, either as a permanent resident of China or as a student currently enrolled overseas.
- Candidates who work overseas are ineligible.
- For tuition purposes, the student must be categorized as an international Chinese student.
English Language Proficiency:
- Candidates must meet the English language proficiency standards set forth by the University of Sussex, particularly for programs in the arts and humanities.
- While those with English proficiency criteria are not eligible to apply, those with a conditional PhD offer that is based only on their undergraduate or graduate achievements are.

Application Process:
In order to be eligible for the CSC-Sussex Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Apply for a PhD in Sussex: Visit the University of Sussex's PhD application portal and submit your application.
- Apply for the Scholarship at CSC: Complete the CSC Scholarship registration of interest form available on the university's website.
- Obtain Funding for CSC: When the China Scholarship Council link opens in March 2025, apply through it as soon as Sussex makes an offer.
