Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship 2025-2026 International Students
Looking for a chance to continue your studies in Hungary as a student of Hungarian heritage? Applications for the fully financed Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship 2025-2026 are now being accepted for bachelor's, master's, one-tier master's, doctoral, and non-degree programs. The Hungarian government created this scholarship with the intention of fostering closer relations between Hungary and Hungarian communities around the world.

Financial Benefits:
Selected applicants will receive:
- Tuition-free study at a Hungarian university.
- Monthly allowance for master's, bachelor's, and one-tier master's students: HUF 43,700 a month
- HUF 140,000–180,000 per month for doctoral students
- Support for housing: HUF 40,000 per month for housing allowance or free placement in a dorm.
- Medical insurance: Hungary's health coverage.
- Travel reimbursement: For qualified students, travel expenses may be reimbursed.
Documents Required:
Candidates need to send in a full application package, which includes:
- Online application form
- A letter of motivation
- Ancestry documentation in the form of a family tree or a certificate of Hungarian heritage
- Academic records, including diplomas and transcripts
- Evidence of proficiency in the language (for programs in Hungarian, English, or other languages)
- recommendation letter (for candidates pursuing a PhD)
- Research proposal (for candidates seeking a PhD)
Eligibility Criteria:
The following candidates are eligible for the scholarship:
- Possess Hungarian heritage and live in a Hungarian diaspora community outside of Serbia, the Zakarpatska Oblast part of Ukraine, and the European Union.
- Are submitting applications to a university in Hungary that offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral, one-tier master's, or non-degree programs.
- Show that they are devoted to learning in Hungary and getting back in touch with their Hungarian roots.

Application Process:
Step 1: Verify Your Eligibility
- Choose the degree program that best suits your academic objectives and make sure you fulfill the criteria of having Hungarian ancestry.
Step 2: Pick a Program and University
- Applications must be sent to Hungarian universities that are taking part in the scholarship program. The official website for the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship has a complete list of universities and learning programs.
Step 3: Send in Your Online Application
- Before February 28, 2025, all applications must be filed electronically through the Tempus Public Foundation.
Step 4: The Process of Selection
The following are part of the selection process:- Technical check (February 2025): Verifying if the application satisfies the official specifications.
- Letters of Recommendation for Diaspora (February 2025) Verification of Hungarian heritage.
- Institutional evaluation: Academic qualifications are evaluated by universities between March and May of 2025.
- Review of a motivation letter (April 2025) Assessment of candidates' dedication to Hungary.
- Completed nomination (May–June 2025) The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship Committee made the selection.
- Results of applications (June 2025): Names of the chosen applicants.
Step 5: Accept Your Scholarship
- Awarded applicants must confirm their acceptance and prepare for their arrival in Hungary.
